Prince William meets Warner in last gasp bid to secure 2018 votes

England's hopes of landing the right to host the World Cup in 2018 were given a boost after Prince William held an important discussion with Concacaf president Jack Warner.

According to the Press Association, David Beckham was also present at the meeting in Zurich, which saw Warner congratulate Prince William on his engagement to Kate Middleton, as he jovially said that married life is like "a good football match - to win it you must be determined and willing to work hard, and your tactics may have to change from time to time."

He also revealed that the Concacaf members - north and central America and the Caribbean - would be voting in unison, which would make it a huge boost if they were to vote in England's favour when concerning the 2018 edition of the tournament.

The story is too old to be commented.
