Fans' safety paramount - Celtic

Celtic have backed police advice to call off their home game against Kilmarnock despite reservations from the Scottish Premier League.

The SPL announced on Thursday afternoon that games at Celtic Park and Tannadice, where Motherwell were due to visit on Saturday, had been postponed on the advice of the respective police forces.

Chief executive Neil Doncaster was surprised the police had handed out the advice more than 48 hours before kick-off, especially with a "substantial thaw forecast".
