Desailly insists he will boss Ghana one day

Marcel Desailly insists he still has ambitions to coach the Black Stars in future, despite withdrawing his application for the job with barely a week to an interview.

Desailly was due to face an interview panel on 16 December, but decided on Monday that he was no longer interested in the process, leaving just three candidates in the job. But the 1998 World Cup winner is adamant he his time will come with the Black Stars.

“I have withdrawn from the Ghana job,” Desailly told ESPNsoccernet. “I was part of the three last coaches to be chosen out of 120 and unfortunately they have taken too long to decide.

“Since September that I expressed my interest, they have not been able to decide on what is a major issue for them. I have put my private life and professional life on standby.

“I will be Ghana coach for sure, but I will not be their coach this year. I'm finishing my coaching badges and I will be available for coaching in the future. I think I have skills as a coach to show and to bring back to kids or at a professional level.”
