Barcelona and Spain striker David Villa has been named the United States Sports Academy's 2010 Male Athlete of the Year.
The former Valencia forward was recognised for his performance for the Spain national football team in the summer as he scored five goals in la Furia Roja's World Cup triumph in South Africa. Villa finished ahead of compatriot and tennis star Rafael Nadal in the worldwide fan poll.
