Former Liverpool and Rangers player Avi Cohen dies after motorcycle accident

Avi Cohen, Israel's best-known football player of the late 1970's and early 80's, passed away on Tuesday from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

The former Liverpool and Rangers defender was thrown from his motorcycle after a collision with a car in Tel Aviv on December 20. Doctors declared Cohen brain dead on Tuesday, his son Tamir Cohen said outside the Tel Aviv hospital where his father had been treated. He was 54.
