Clarence Seedorf: Italy Is Not A Racist Country

Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf has dismissed suggestions that Italian football is steeped in racism and says that Mario Balotelli being subjected to racist abuse doesn't reflect the general perception of the country towards foreigners.

Balotelli, now at Manchester City, was subjected to racist abuse and monkey chants by opposition fans when he was at Inter but Seedorf believes that this shouldn't be perceived as an innate quality of the country as a whole.

"There is no racism in Italy," the Dutchman of Surinamese descent is quoted as saying by Gulfnews.com. "There is ignorance and it's from a small group that doesn't need attention.
