Spain midfielder Xavi is set to make his 549th official appearance for Barcelona at home to Levante on Sunday, matching the club record set by former player Migueli.
Xavi, who turns 31 on January 25, debuted for Barca in 1998 and has been shortlisted along with team mates Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta for the FIFA Ballon d'Or, which is to be announced on January 10.
Congratulations to Xavier Hernandez.
A one club man and now, he has tied the club record of 549 appearances set by Migueli and at just 31, he's bound to reach 700 or more.
Once he's relegated to the bench, he'll still be a substitute and that'll still give him an edge.
But I'm sure Messi will break his record. At just 23, Messi is nearing 300.
Well anyway, I hope one day when Xavi retires, he retires as a legend to the game. One of the finest centre midfielders to have ever graced the game. Up there alongside the great Zizou.
Woww,549 appearances is a lot he can reach like 650+ appearances if he's still playing
what about Maradona:) Not that many matches, but a football genious.
people talked about legends...have a nice day
Maradona is not a legend the defenders in his days were shiit
anyways, xavi is a maestro a mastermind in the field no wonder he got that record
barca can't play a game without xavi, barca will be killed without xavi
