BR: The period 2000-2010 was a roller coaster ride for Real Madrid: the second half of the 1999/2000 season was both disappointing and successful as Real finished fifth in La Liga but surprisingly won the UEFA Champions League under the brilliant guidance of manager Vicente del Bosque who replaced Welshman John Toshack in November 1999.
