Tottenham have £33m bid for Fernando Llorente rejected as they line up deadline-day striker deal

Tottenham have had a sensational £33million bid for Fernando Llorente rejected by Athletic Bilbao, Goal.com UK can reveal.
The stunning offer for the Spain striker, which is double the club’s previous highest transfer fee, was made at the weekend.

Sources understand that the Premier League club tested the water with an offer that they knew would exceed the €36m (30.9m) release clause in Llorente’s contract but the deal has been complicated by knock-on VAT costs.

Nevertheless, Spurs are ready to smash the £16.5m fee they paid for both Luka Modric and Darren Bent in the final 24 hours of the January window as they attempt to beef up a strike force that has badly misfired this season.

The story is too old to be commented.

This move should go through, specially after what we saw from Harry in the last transfer window.
