PEPE REINA last night sensationally opened the door to a £20million summer move to Manchester United.
Liverpool keeper Reina stunned the Kop by refusing to rule out a move to Old Trafford in the close season.

With Edwin van der Sar hanging up his gloves, speculation has been rife that United boss Alex Ferguson will try to snatch the stopper by paying the £20m get-out clause in his contract.

Asked directly about United's interest on Spanish radio station Onda Cero, Reina dropped a massive hint that it could happen.

He said: "Yes, well Van der Sar will hang up his gloves in the summer so of course they are looking.

"I can't do anything. I can't say anything logically as I have a contract with Liverpool.

He wont leave Liverpool, as Kenny will "fix" the team up again in the top.

rafay4823d ago

The same was said for Torres. But I agree with you.

No Liverpool player should leave for United ( if they want to live peacefully)

Anderson84823d ago

he's a good keeper but no liverpool manager will sell direct to Manchester United and vice versa

If Man Utd offer the 20mil get out clause in his contract they have to accept it.

Why do you think Liverpool had to accept the 50mil offer for Torres.

Maradona4822d ago

Tell me why they have to accept it?

resistance1004822d ago

It's part of the contract. If you have a get out clause and a team offer's the terms of that clause the club have to accept the offer. It's then up to the player if they want to go or not.

Most player's demand that a get out clause is included when signing a long term deal just in case things go wrong and they want to leave. However generally a Get-Out-Clause is worth more than the perceived value of the player at the time of the contract signing so the holding club can expect a reasonable amount of compensation for the player.
