Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has hailed young compatriot Ignasi Miquel after the 18-year-old made his debut for the Gunners in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient.
Like playmaker Fabregas, Miquel began his development at Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth academy but having been released found himself plying his trade in the lower echelons of Spanish football with UD Cornella.
Snapped up by Arsene Wenger on the recommendation of his scouting network, the rangy defender has since progressed well in North London and was rewarded with captaincy of the Arsenal reserve team at the start of the season.
