Arsene Wenger has claimed that even Uefa officials he spoke to were “shocked” by Arsenal striker Robin van Persie’s red card against Barcelona.
In a strong attack on referee Massimo Busacca's handling of the match’s pivotal moment, Wenger accused the official of “killing” the tie - which stood at 1-1 on the night, 3-2 in Arsenal's favour on aggregate at the time - for dismissing van Persie in the second half.
... so basically Arsenal were already playing with a man down before he was sent off.
I thought the second yellow was ridiculous as well, but let's not pretend it was a huge loss that Robin went off. Plus he already should have been sent off before that.
Plus Wenger killed the game before it started with his line-up and tactical plan. Arsenal is an attacking 'positive' team, so why the hell lean back AGAINST BARCELONA trying to defend a very narrow lead!?!?
Arsenal only have themselfs to blame. Sadly.
