Barcelona's French defender Eric Abidal will have surgery to remove a liver tumour, the club said in a statement on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old, who has made 22 appearances this term, but has not played since the Blaugrana's 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid last month, will have the operation on Friday.
