Man United Full Back Patrice Evra Fouls Chelsea’s Ramires: Penalty?

Well well well. It was a chance for Chelsea to get themselves back into the game at Stamford Bridge last night, a challenge late in the game and clearly one that ruffled a lot of feathers. There seems no doubt that Patrice Evra’s ‘tackle’ on Brazilian Ramires is a foul, but look closely, was the first contact made just outside the box? Either way referee Alberto Mallenco should have awarded either a free-kick or a penalty. However worth remembering that when these two sides met in the Premier League in March Chelsea were awarded a soft penalty and should have had David Luiz sent-off. Swings and roundabouts.
