Tottenham have decided to ditch gaffe-prone Heurelho Gomes and have identified Maarten Stekelenburg of Ajax and Manchester City's Shay Given as potential replacements.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp finally lost patience with Gomes after his howler against Chelsea on April 30, when Frank Lampard's tame effort squirmed through his body in the 2-1 defeat and a goal was awarded even though the whole ball did not cross the line.
... and although Gomes has been quite unlucky and a bit inconsistent lately, there's no doubt in my mind that he's still a great keeper, and better than Stekelenburg.
Don't get me wrong, 'Steek' (or in english you'd probably call him 'Steak' ;) ) is a very good keeper, but I've seen Gomes perform saves that were just amazing and incredible.
I'm sure PSV would welcome back Gomes with open arms though.
