FIFA & UEFA set to appeal court decision in bid to charge fans to watch televised WC and EURO games

The games governing bodies are set to contest a legal ruling currently blocking them from charging for supporters to watch World Cup and European Championship matches on television.

FIFA and UEFA, already in the press as a result of Lord Triesman’s allegations earlier in the week, are taking their fight to the European Court of Justice after a decision was made in the General Court which denied them the right to charge UK television viewers to watch the international fixtures as they were deemed “protected” due to them being events of national sporting interested.
