La Liga: Are FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF Slowly Killing the Spanish League?

In the past two seasons, Barcelona and to a lesser extent Real Madrid have utterly dominated La Liga, with both teams completely obliterating the previous point records, racking up close to 100. Moreover, it seems inevitable that next season will be more of the same: Barcelona and Real Madrid competing to see who loses the least point against the bottom 18 (because that's what they are right now), and the rest of the teams competing in an almost separate league.

The story is too old to be commented.

The whole reason why the Premier League is better you get teams like Sunderland who beat Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford bridge. Or Wolves ending long Man Utds unbeaten run. Then we have games like the Arsenal 4-4 Newcastle which was amazing for Newcastle to come back. Blackpool beating Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield and played them off the field. Then not too mention the amount of Derbys.

krazykombatant4660d ago

Oh please get off your high horse zootang. Sure there is a lot more competition in the middle pack in the EPL. But its dominated by the top 4 teams. Used to be liverpool but it'll be a while before they return to their former glory.

Real and Barca are just head and shoulders above the rest. Even your precious Man u.

However, due to the fact that Real and Barca have so much money its a lot harder for spanish teams to win things, same when you have the other leagues taking the other good players of la liga.

zootang4660d ago

Is that why Real struggled to get past the quarter finals in the last 5 years. Stop being delusional thinking because Real can beat Spanish teams they can beat Premier League teams. They look suspect against any decent side they have come across. Manchester United have earned their place as 2nd unlike Madrid who after spending 200m want to just mince in with boring football. Need I remind you that your best player came from us and won more with us, lol.

Sahil4660d ago (Edited 4660d ago )

La Liga has only two games to look out for whereas EPL, it's a new story every week, I agree that spain has stronger clubs but EPL has 5 BIG clubs.. more big matches.. Serie A is better than la Liga in terms of domestic competitors but it is shit.. Valencia/Villarreal are nowhere near the quality of Barca/Real.. it's like a monopoly(two) in spain.. it's either real/barca.

Mozilla894660d ago (Edited 4660d ago )

I think the work you are looking for is duopoly :)

The simple answer is yes. If there are only two teams in a entire league over time the league gets dull. Where as in the EPL any team can test, any of the top4 to a great match. It makes for a great story line imo

NewMonday4660d ago

you can only rate things season by season, RM and Barca where the best clubs in Europe last year.

if mid table Spanish teams played mid table English teams, the Spanish would win most matches.

kulka4660d ago (Edited 4660d ago )

well not really I say Stoke city or Everton would do very well against the Spanish

hahaha boring football, at least we can have some posession of the ball against barca unlike the man u team. That final was nothing but a can of whoop ass just like the other final against barca that you had. Sure we've struggled but that won't be happening anymore. Here is hoping we face man u in the champions so you can shut your mouth. And if anything Ronaldo has gotten better with us than he did under your beloved Sir Alex.

zootang4660d ago (Edited 4660d ago )

Can you even score a goal against them without winning a penalty, lol. Well he sure didn't win anything decent with your team. When Ronaldo looks in his trophy cabinet he only sees the name of Manchester United. I would call 5-0 loss with 200m worth of "superstars" an embarrassment!

Sir Alex sent him packing at Chelsea and I'm sure he'll do the same again. I can't wait to hear the excuses from Muorinho when we beat you!

In Sir Alex I Trust, United We Stand!

1st of all - La liga is nowhere close to the Epl, we got teams like stoke, Sunderland , Everton , Aston villa , and the biggest 6 clubs with that Liverpool , Chelsea , Man u , Man city , Arsenal and Tottenham Spurs... While your league is all about 2 teams that are always 20 points or more ahead of the rest.. and Boring football... and dont think Barcelona is all that.. Real madrid could of holded on to them if they never got Pepe red carded with the " well known dives " every year since Josep "Pep" Guardiola - 1st chelsea when chelsea had almost 5 penalties dont werent called and than we got the diving king , sergio busquets who dived when thiago motta got the ball... anything else to say... Jose Mourinho was lucky that game and were talking about the better league...

- I bet you Stoke could hold Barca or Real , there not a big club but they could play like a big club..
and btw if barcelona and real were in the Epl... none of this horse running between real and barca would happen... play with the big boys hahahahaa Your Whimpy league will never be better than the Epl.. Serie A is even better , the Bundesliga is 10x better i bet hahahaa :)

Xavi Inseista and Sergio Busquets cant handle it in the Epl.. go teach Mascherano how to dive you whimps..

Sahil4660d ago (Edited 4660d ago )

Zootang.. you kinky little bItch.. you never heard of "MINDING UR OWN BUSINESS"

Now.. you're replyin to my comments even if it's pointed towards someone else.. WOOOWWWW!

krazykombatant4660d ago

He obviously doesn't feel any better when he doesn't put down people and other teams. It's alright he's on a high from Rooney getting hair.

CYBERSNAKE4660d ago

If you ask me to name all 20 Spanish teams in La Liga, I seriously would struggle, that's how uninterested I am in that League.
Real and Barca will continue to dominate that league for many years to come.

sokrates4660d ago

True enough. I still like to watch El Classico:)

Sahil4660d ago (Edited 4660d ago )

I can tell you the names if u want :D

CYBERSNAKE4660d ago

lol since we're on the Internet, the challenge is kinda pointless.

zootang4660d ago

He didn't say he couldn't just that he would struggle. Well done anyway Sahil. That make you feel better?

zeddy4660d ago

put it this way, the only time i watch la liga is when barca or madrid are involved but i can watch any game in the epl even qpr vs bolton.

FReeDoM4ALL4660d ago

Perfectly said.

I would also like to add that 'slowly killing' is a large understatement seeing as finishing 20 or more points difference ahead is normal now. More befitting would be Barcelona and Real Madrid have raped, massacred and continue to sh*t on La Liga.

kulka4660d ago

Valencia were a decent side challanging the top 2 until they ran into finacial diffculties they were forced to sell players Barca and real will proparly dominate the league for a long time in the EPL any of the top 6 sides could win the league next season the level of performances is very good and relatively equal
