Sunderland appoint Martin O'Neill as manager on three-year deal

Sunderland have officially announced the appointment of Martin O'Neill as their new manager, replacing the recently sacked Steve Bruce.

The former Aston Villa boss has been confirmed as the Black Cats' new coach, with the club's chairman Ellis Short looking for the team to become a top 10 regular...

The story is too old to be commented.

I have a feeling this was already agreed on principle before Bruce was sacked as it was done so fast. Also why has O'Neill agreed to manage them? Nothing against Sunderland but he left Villa as they had little to no money for transfers.. Neither have Sunderland! It's crazy and makes you think his reason for leaving Villa was for differnt motives.

lmao you have no idea so dont bother commenting on things you dont know about.
O'Neill left because the aston villa board werent matching his ambitions(selling players and not giving him the money to spend) but as shown villa had plenty of money to spend(soon after him leaving they brought bent for around 18m) and sunderland no money to spend dont make me laugh they have plenty to spend aslong as owners are willing to back which im sure they will. already being reported that he has 20m straight away in january to spend on new signings to me thats a good amount to keep them up and back to mid table like they was predicted.
