Dazzling Messi puts Ronaldo in shade

To borrow a Gary Neville image, Lionel Messi really does look as if he is being controlled by a 10-year-old on his PlayStation, but in the best way possible. On these neon nights in Spain you observe the splendour of Messi’s talent and the shadow he casts even over Cristiano Ronaldo.

For anyone under 30 most football deities are old television footage: Puskas, Di Stefano, Pele, Best and Cruyff. Only with Diego Maradona does greatness shade into today’s world and from there Zinedine Zidane and the original (Brazilian) Ronaldo are its most eminent representatives.

"Then along comes Lionel Messi, the low-slung, iron-shinned, soft-footed darting genius who shines brightest in the hardest games of all."

So true :)

This is Messi's theme song:

True messi is amazing, however, hes been in the barca system his whole life. I would like to see how messi handles going to any other league hell to any other team without xavi and iniesta. Best example of that would be Argentina, he just isn't the same player by a long shot.

All of this doesn't matter, RM will come back Ronaldo has more to prove now more than ever. Best way to do this is to get Barca in our side of the bracket and beat them. We still have time to close the gap

Well yea, he basically grew as a football player in that system. If he were to transfer, the forwards of the next team would have to treat him as a Xavi or Iniesta, because that's the type of player he is. Argentina doesn't work in cooperation with him, yet every time they did, they ended up winning games.

Ronaldo sucks compared to when he was in Man-U
Henry was better at Arsenal than Barca
Ibrahimovic is better at Milan than Barca
Aguero is better in Man City than Athletico de Madrid

everyone is different.

Ronaldo has is on track to score more goals at RM than he did in Man u. he has developed more as a player with Mou than he ever did with sir alex. His value has definitely gone up in his time at RM than those at barca.

Get your facts straight.

Messi is better at barca because of XAVI and INIESTA, that team wouldn't be anywhere near that level without those two period. Messi, can't reach that level with argentina, because there is no chemistry period. That reason is why I think as it stands right now he will never win a WC maybe when hes old and new fresh blood is in the national team.

Ronaldo has been superb at Madrid, but developed under Mourinho? Ha! He was a world class player before he pulled on a Madrid shirt and he owes most of that to United. Madrid did not pay 80 million for 'potential' they paid it for the finished article. Thats the only reason you pay that amount of money and break the world record fee.

Henry was already on the downslope by the time he left Arsenal, Wenger got the best out of him and sold him at the right time in hindsight.

Ibrahimovic never fitted into the culture and system at Barcelona.

Aguero will probably grow at city, because i believe he has not peaked yet, and at City he has better players around him anyway.

I agree everyone is different and there are a lot of factors involved when it comes to transfers.

@vulcanproject has ronaldo not become more of a teamplayer and less of a self-teammate I think so. I don't think he got that from sir alex.

Messi outshined Cristiano Ronaldo in El Clasico, he is the better player. Plus, he's not a total pr*ck like Cristiano Ronaldo is!
