World Football Gossip, News and Strange Roundup: Hulk, Ronaldinho, Rooney

It's that time of the week again—Friday—when I like to give a roundup of what's happening in the world.

In this week's roundup we have transfer gossip, Euro 2012 injury concerns, new technology, pitch invaders, terrible defending and an over-involved football club owner.

Confused? It will all make sense once you've clicked through the slides.

After Liverpool clinched the Carling Cup this season with a victory over Cardiff at Wembley, it appears they will be the last team to ever do so—at least for the foreseeable future.

As reported by ESPN, the competition will now be known as the Capital One Cup for the next four years after the credit card company agreed a deal with the FA.

The name change will begin at the start of the 2012/13 season. 

It seems that the gruelling domestic season for European football players is beginning to take its toll as a number of casualties are beginning to be confirmed for Euro 2012.

With England having lost Gareth Barry to an abdomen tear and Frank Lampard to a thigh strain (via Fox Sports), France have now entered the fray with Arsenal target Yann M'Vila limping off a recent game with an ankle injury (per Sky Sports).

It is unclear at the moment as to what extent the injury is.

The Metro is reporting that Paris Saint-Germain are targeting Wayne Rooney in a £100 million deal, but it's a deal I just can't see happening.

The report also states that the French club initially targeted Lionel Messi, so 10 out of 10 for effort by the Paris Saint-Germain board.

Manchester City and Juventus are apparently set to thrash it out for Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez, according to Fox Sports.

Ramirez's agent has confirmed that the two clubs have made an enquiry about the Uruguayan international, but also added there was interest from German outfit Wolfsburg, plus another unnamed Spanish side.

Ramirez is 21 years old.

ESPN have reported that FC Porto forward Hulk has agreed to a move to Champions League winners Chelsea.

With the figure reported to be £38 million for the Brazilian international, the fee would eclipse the sum paid to Lille for playmaker Eden Hazard—rumoured to be £32 million, according to the Guardian. However, the club is yet to confirm either deal as finalised thus far.

Brazilian international Ronaldinho could be available on a free transfer following the news from the Daily Mail that he has walked out on club side Flamengo over unpaid wages.

A court ruled in his favour on Thursday when he asked to have his contract terminated, and Flamengo could still owe the player a compensation fee.

Ronaldinho is 32 years old and was once considered one of the best players in the world.

England's friendly against Belgium on Saturday will mark a turning point in history.

The game will feature black netting and black dots on the goalposts as Hawk-Eye test its goal-line technology during the match (per the Daily Mail).

The referee will not be fed live information from the system, and the technology will not affect any decisions during the game as it is purely for testing purposes.

It's about time though!

If you owned a football team, would you play yourself? That's what Shanhai Shenhua owner Zhu Jun did in a match this week.

The makeshift No. 11 paired himself alongside Nicolas Anelka in attack but was substituted at halftime after missing multiple chances.

Zhu, 45, declined to answer the question as to whether Didier Drogba is seen as his long-term replacement (from the Daily Mail).

Thankfully the game was only a friendly.

You know the drill. It's the last game of the season and it's stoppage time—why not invade the pitch and dispatch a free kick into the net?

A football fan did just that after stumbling—seemingly drunk—onto the field of play in full facepaint and giving some stewards the run around in the recent match between FK Buducnost and Lovcen.

He enjoyed his celebration.

It's one thing to make a mistake as a defender, but making two is even worse. Making two in the last minute of a game that ultimately loses you the match is just tragic.

This Bosnian "defender" attempts to clear the ball once, only to balloon in skyward. His second attempt was try an overhead kick that passed the ball straight to Manchester United and Mexico striker Javier Hernandez to stroke home for victory.

It just gets better every time you watch it.
