EPL Transfer Rumors: 11 Useful Players Still on the Market

The transfer window is closing and there are still some teams waiting to make things happen in the transfer market. 

While we've already seen some blockbuster transfers come through, we are set to be treated to a flurry of activity as the transfer window comes to an end.

Not much time is left, so here is a look at 11 players that are poised for a deadline day move. 

Newcastle have been flirting with French international Mathieu Debuchy all summer, but according to the Mirror, the Magpies are making a final £6 million offer.

According to The Mirror's Brian McNally, Newcastle's hopes of signing the right-back rest with Lille's Champions League hopes. If the French team cannot overturn their 1-0 deficit to Copenhagen this week, Debuchy will be allowed to leave. 

It would be a great signing for Newcastle, as Debuchy was one of the few bright spots on an otherwise lackluster French Euro 2012 squad.  

One of the more prolific, if not most drawn-out transfer sagas of the summer, Fulham star Clint Dempsey is looking for a new club after refusing to play for Fulham ever again amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. 

Liverpool has looked the more likely to sign the want-away American star, but have also seemed to distance themselves away from him after picking up Nuri Sahin on loan and signing Moroccan winger Oussama Assaidi (via ESPN). 

Dempsey is going to have a long year full of explaining to do if he can't find a club by next week. 

Gaston Ramirez was another player that had been chased by Liverpool all summer and then all of a sudden, Southampton stepped in and seemed to scupper any sort of Liverpool deal. 

However, according to ESPN, Bologna president Albano Guaraldi has put a stop to proceedings due to Southampton's lack of financial guarantees. 

With a Saints move on hold, it gives a chance for Liverpool, Inter Milan or Tottenham to move in and steal the young Uruguayan away. 

Athletic Bilbao's standout midfielder Javi Martinez has been linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester City this summer, with his parents even talking to the club to urge them to let their son move to the German giants.

Man City boss Roberto Mancini has come out and said that Martinez is too expensive for the blue side of Manchester but we all know that the Citizens have oodles of cash and money has rarely been an issue. 

It will be interesting to see if the young Spaniard stays with Bilbao or not this time next week. 

Fernando Llorente is another Athletic Bilbao star that could be on his way to the Premier League.

According to ESPN, Llorente's agent has said that a move to the Premier League is "very, very possible" and that unnamed teams from London and Manchester are keen on Llorente's signature. 

Spurs and Manchester City have emerged as the front-runners to sign Llorente; Spurs only have Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor as true strikers and with an injury to Sergio Aguero, Manchester City's attack is faltering. 

Llorente would be a good addition to either side. 

Brazilian and Porto superstar Hulk has been linked with a move to Chelsea all summer, but the London club looks like they could finally lose out on a transfer since Zenit St. Petersburg has had a £40 million bid accepted by the Portuguese club, according to The Mirror.

A move to Russia has since failed to materialize, so Chelsea has an opportunity to add Hulk to its lethal attack that consists of stars like Fernando Torres, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard. 

According to the Daily Mail, Roberto di Matteo is lining up a final £35 million bid to land Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Chelsea have been long-time admirers of the prolific Uruguayan striker, and if the deal goes through, Chelsea would have the most potent attack in the Premier League—without question. 

The deal has been delayed so long due to Cavani's £150,000-a-week wage demands, but if Chelsea can get around the high wages, you would have to think that the European Champions win the transfer market in the Premier League. 

Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho was subject of Manchester United transfer news after Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly made a £20 million bid earlier this summer (via Metro) but now it has emerged that Andre Villas-Boas and Tottenham are prepared to shell out the cash to bring Moutinho to London. 

Tottenham is preparing to spend at least £50 million in the last days of the transfer window, with Moutinho the No. 1 choice to help reshape the Spurs midfield.

The signing would be a great one for Tottenham, as Moutinho is one of the more hard-working midfielders in world football right now.  

With the departure of Alex Song, Arsenal is still looking for a replacement holding midfielder and are looking to sign Frenchman Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger is preparing a £15 million bid for the Newcastle playmaker in order to shore up a midfield that is honestly lacking in creativity. 

Speaking of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger has again renewed his interest in Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila to replace Alex Song. 

However, Tottenham has emerged as a destination for the French midfielder as they look to replace the departing Luka Modric (via the Daily Mail).

According to Rennes' club director Pierre Dreossi, a deal with either club should be settled "by the end of the week." 

Both clubs could use midfield reinforcements; it's all a question of where he ends up. 

According to Metro, Barcelona winger Ibrahim Afellay has been allowed to leave the Catalan club on loan for this season, which is expected to start a loan war between Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and Newcastle. 

Jamie Sanderson of Metro reports that Barca coach Tito Vilanova doesn't include Afellay in his season plans this year and that his agent expects a move away from Barcelona to be forthcoming. 

Spurs seem to be the only club that has contacted Barcelona about a loan move, but one should expect the other clubs to follow suit, especially Liverpool, since Brendan Rodgers has said he will look to the loan market for new players (via the Sport Review).
