Napoli wingback Christian Maggio has stated that his new teammate Lorenzo Insigne is better than former Napoli player Ezequiel Lavezzi.

According to Maggio, “He’s a better finisher than Ezequiel Lavezzi. They are similar, but Insigne is more concrete in front of goal.”

“The Argentine would often find himself clear through on goal but never be able to finish.”

Following the sale of Lavezzi to Paris Saint-Germain, Insigne has earned himself a recall to his parent club after various loan stints, most recently at Pescara.

The youngster has also earned himself a call-up to the Azzurri squad after earning his stripes at Under-21 level.

“Insigne is a boy who, despite his age, is a serious guy who works hard. He follows the indications of the Coach and I hope he has a good career because he deserves it,” Maggio stated.

Napoli are currently joint top of Serie A with Juventus and Lazio after two rounds. When asked about the Scudetto the defender responded with this.

“We haven’t spoken about the Scudetto, but why not? We can certainly cause a lot of teams problems this season.”

The squad is more united this time around, new players have come in and we’ll try to improve. It won’t be easy though as everyone raises their game against us.”
