If David Luiz's strength lies in his hair, then Chelsea could be in even deeper trouble than they currently find themselves in.

The night after the Blues' calamitous 2-0 Capital One Cup semi-final first leg loss to Swansea the Brazilian star's mother posted pictures on Twitter of what appear to be the remainder of her son's fabled 'Sideshow Bob' hair-do.

In a season where one calamity has followed another at Stamford Bridge, Luiz's conversion from an error-prone centre-back to a commanding presence in midfield has been a rare shining light for Chelsea.

But as happy as he might in his new role, it appears Luiz felt it was time for a change.

The 25-year-old has established himself as a key member of Chelsea's squad since arriving from Benfica in January 2011 and he played the full 90 minutes on Wednesday night.

The extent to which Luiz's hair has been shorn is unclear, but we should find out on Saturday when Chelsea travel to Stoke in the Barclays Premier League.
