5 Talking Points from Barcelona vs. Getafe

Jordi Roura suggested the 1-1 draw at Valencia was down to fatigue, his decision to make no more than one change backfiring.

Six changes later and Barcelona have scored six goals, blowing visiting Getafe out the water with another crusading Camp Nou victory.

There were six different goalscorers, but it was a day to cherish Andres Iniesta, who put in a performance that even Los Azulones will no doubt have appreciated.

Alexis Sanchez and Lionel Messi scored in the first half and David Villa and Cristian Tello added two more before Alvaro Vazquez produced a consolation from a Jordi Alba mistake.

As time ticked down Barca polished their performance off with goals from the imperious Iniesta and Gerard Pique.

Here are the talking points from the 6-1 win.

Out went Dani Alves, Javier Mascherano, Xavi Hernandez, Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro Rodriguez.

In came Adriano, Carles Puyol, Thiago Alcantara, Alex Song, Alexis Sanchez and David Villa.

If Barcelona had failed to rotate in the face of accusations of tiredness against Valencia, they certainly didn't fail in the landslide win against Getafe.

Thiago weighed in with a good performance, providing two assists, while Alexis and Villa were both on target.

Captain Puyol showed no signs of age catching up with him, Song was solid but Adriano had to be replaced at half time due to yet another injury.

With rotation proving once again the depth of Barca's squad, it begs the question why it was so denounced at the Mestalla last weekend when tired legs were evident. 

For large parts of the season Andres Iniesta has been deployed on the left of Barcelona's front three alongside Lionel Messi and Pedro Rodriguez.

In the 6-1 win against Getafe the 28-year-old was back in a central role and it was less a joy to watch and more an absolute masterclass.

Alexis Sanchez's goal opened the scoring at Camp Nou, but the pass from Iniesta was sublime, cutting right through the middle of Los Azulones' defence.

The second goal was all about Barca's midfield man too, this time his chipped pass found the advanced run of Thiago Alcantara, who provided the assist for Lionel Messi.

Into the second half he continued to sizzle and with time running out added a goal to round off a near-perfect performance.

As part of a much-changed lineup, both Alexis Sanchez and David Villa were given a chance to stake their claim for a place La Blaugrana's starting 11.

While Villa remains a fan favorite at Camp Nou, the Chilean Sanchez continues to blow hot and cold with the supporters and so will be happy to have put in a performance against Getafe.

He scored his first La Liga goal since April 2012, latching on to Andres Iniesta's pass before calmly passing the ball past Jordi Codina.

His running with the ball caused constant problems too, and just before halftime his menacing run nearly set up Thiago Alcantara.

David Villa was functional too. He regularly demonstrated good link-up play with Lionel Messi and he eventually got his goal, finishing clinically when put through by Jordi Alba.

With Messi scoring too, Roura will be delighted that all three of his forwards were on target in the win.

Sometimes you just have to admit that you were comfortably beaten by one of the world's greatest teams.

And although Luis Garcia will have been under no illusions heading into the match at Camp Nou, he may feel he could have approached the game differently.

Favoring his normal 4-2-3-1, the triumvirate of attacking midfielders offered little support to the overworked Borja and Mehdi Lacen.

The two defensive midfielders were swarmed by the Barca midfield and faced the thankless task of trying to impose any sort of authority on the game.

That said, Garcia will be happy to have the visit to La Blaugrana out the way and will now be solely focused on the visit of Celta Vigo next weekend.

Before the 6-1 thumping of Getafe, Barcelona had won just two of their last six games in all competitions.

Throughout that spell, though, their form in La Liga at Camp Nou has remained devastating with points only dropped to Real Madrid in the Clasico last year.

The six-goal win was the fifth straight league game in which La Blaugrana have scored four or more goals, although it was the first time they have scored six in a game this season.

In normal circumstances that home record would be the best in the league, but second-place Atletico Madrid continue to maintain their 100 percent record at home in La Liga.

Barca don't visit until May.
