Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker have a sword fight while dressed as samurais

Arsenal's preseason tour has reached Japan, so they decided to dress up a couple of Germans as samurais and let them fight each other with swords because why not?

After putting on their gear and practicing a bit on their own, Mertesacker and Podolski demonstrated their samurai skills in front of teammates and supporters at a fan party in the Urawa Royal Pines Hotel. Amazingly, no one ended up losing an eyeball.

Of course, having two players trained in the ways of the samurai could come in handy if Arsenal sign Luis Suarez. Swordplay might be the only thing that can stop him from biting.

Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta and Bacary Sagna learned to be sushi chefs. Here they are holding their raw fish...

The scent must have attracted Mertesacker, because he showed up, still dressed as a samurai, to sample the food his teammates touched.

So that's how Arsenal spent a day cooped up in a hotel. And now there's a good chance that Lukas Podolski thinks he's a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
