WATCH: Worst red card call ever?

Bloke sent off
Image: PSV players astonished by referee's decision

PSV full-back Jetro Willems received the fastest red card in Eredivisie history despite not making any contact with his opponent.

At first glance, it seemed the 20-year-old lunged in dangerously on NAC Breda's Gill Swerts inside the first minute, but didn't appear to touch the midfielder before being sent off.

The red card was rescinded on Wednesday, with the referee - Kevin Blom - admitting he had got it wrong.

Despite the incredible early setback, the Eredivisie leaders went on to win 2-0 and extend their lead to 12 points over Ajax after the in demand Memphis Depay and captain Georginio Wijnaldum struck in the second half.

The game struggled to gain momentum after that incident and it was not until the 48th minute that Breda's Adnane Tighadouini had the first shot on target for either side.

PSV went ahead in the 53rd minute as Depay turned in from six yards, before Wijnaldum made the game safe driving into the box.
