Roberto Firmino could miss Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay after missing training on Monday, according to reports in Brazil.

The Liverpool star played 89 minutes in Brazil’s 4-1 win over Uruguay on Friday, but will sit out their final game of the current round of international fixtures.

Firmino is believed to have missed training because of throat inflammation and not because of any serious injury.

Liverpool play Everton on Saturday and will want Firmino and Brazil team-mate Philippe Coutinho back in top shape ahead of the local derby.

However, Brazil head coach Tite revealed he is set to start Firmino against Paraguay despite the fact he missed training.

It means two of Liverpool’s most influential stars will play around 2am on Wednesday morning and travel 6,000 miles back to England three days before the Everton game.

Liverpool will be desperate to do the league double over Everton and keep Manchester United and Arsenal at bay.
