Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a horrendous injury right at the death of normal time in Manchester United’s Europa League tie with Anderlecht.

The Swede was already enduring a nightmare game in which he had missed a host of chances when the incident happened.

After jumping for the ball he landed horribly with his right knee seemingly bending the wrong way.

The 35-year-old collapsed to the ground in agony and Manchester United medics rushed to his aid.

A stretcher was brought on but Ibrahimovic refused to use it – instead opting to hobble off.

Anthony Martial was brought on to replace Ibrahimovic before extra-time began with the score level 1-1.

‘It looked pretty bad,’ said Michael Owen on BT Sport. ‘He has managed to walk off but no chance of him continuing to play.’

The injury to Ibrahimovic will be a huge blow with the former PSG and Barcelona striker scoring 28 goals for the Red Devils so far this season.
