N’Golo Kante has revealed that his vote for PFA Player of the Year went to Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.

The Chelsea midfielder beat competition from Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexis Sanchez to win the award at Sunday night’s ceremony in London.

Kante was also one of four Chelsea players who were named in the PFA Team of the Season.

But the France international revealed to Chelsea’s official website that his own vote went to Mane – who was not shortlisted for the award despite his 13 goals and five assists in 27 Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season.

Kante also revealed the positive reaction from his Chelsea team-mates in the dressing room after winning the award.

‘They gave me a round of applause and that’s very important because without them I couldn’t receive this award,’ he said.

‘We are having a good season together and I hope we can achieve something bigger than this award because I think football is about sticking together, and if we can win the league or win the cup it will be amazing for the team, for the club and for the fans.’
