Michy Batshuayi has been more prolific on social media than he has been on the pitch this season, so it was no wonder he took to Twitter immediately after scoring the goal that clinched the Premier League title.

The Belgian international had netted only one goal in the league prior to Friday’s trip to West Brom, and few though he would be the man to land the killer blow when he was surprisingly brought on in place of Eden Hazard with 14 minutes remaining.

The former Marseille man, in truth, gave an error-strewn performance before he slid home from close range with eight minutes left to secure a 1-0 win and confirm his side as champions.

And he was humble enough to recognise himself as an ‘unexpected hero’ having previously told Sky Sports this achievement represented the greatest day in his professional career.

He then demanded he be awarded an ‘in-form’ card on FIFA before telling his followers they would be unlikely to hear from him again this evening, with Chelsea’s celebrations likely to last long into the night.
