Who’s Owen backing this week?

Former England, Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid striker and BetVictor brand ambassador Michael Owen shares his thoughts on this week’s Premier League fixture, starting with tonight’s clash between Chelsea and Watford.

Chelsea v Watford

It’s hard to see past another home win for champions Chelsea who are looking for their 16th home league win of the season. Watford drew another blank at Goodison on Friday and I don’t expect any slip-ups from Antonio Conte’s men who will not be presented with the Premier League trophy until after the visit of Sunderland on Sunday.

Arsenal v Sunderland

Arsenal have never lost at home to Sunderland in the Premier League and it is hard to see how this current Black Cats side can buck the trend. As far as their Champions League hopes are concerned, the Gunners must keep winning in the hope that Liverpool somehow fail to beat Boro at Anfield on Sunday. Arsenal have played very well in recent weeks and they are likely to be much too good for David Moyes’ side who were well beaten by Swansea at the weekend.

Manchester City v West Brom

City have won their last ten games in the Premier League against West Brom and this is another game where it is hard to see past an emphatic home success. However I do think the Baggies might find the back of the City net despite their recent frailties in front of goal.

Gabriel Jesus has scored five and has a couple of assists to his name in six Premier League starts and I’m looking forward to seeing much more of the young Brazilian next term.

Southampton v Manchester United

You have to go back to August 2003 for the last time the Saints beat United on home soil in the Premier League but they won’t have many better chances with United coming into the game on the back of successive away defeats, albeit at Arsenal and Spurs.

The League Cup Final between the sides earlier in the season was a cracker, but I don’t expect to see too many fireworks at St Mary’s with the Saints without a home goal for 275 minutes.

Leicester City v Tottenham

Despite the fact that Leicester have won all five home league games under Craig Shakespeare I expect to see Spurs take all three points in what promises to be an open and entertaining game. The Foxes were, arguably, unlucky not to get something from the Etihad at the weekend but Spurs have much to play for and, after his goal against United on Sunday, there is still a chance of Harry Kane landing the coveted Golden Boot.
