Antonio Conte has broken Jose Mourinho’s record after guiding Chelsea to the 30th win of their Premier League season with a 5-1 victory over Sunderland.

Mourinho had held the Premier League record with Chelsea after he guided the club to 29 wins in both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 campaigns.

But the victory over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on the final day of the season means that Conte now stands alone as the only manager with 30 wins in a single Premier League campaign.

Before the match, Conte admitted that beating Mourinho’s ‘unbelievable’ record was a target as he urged his Chelsea players to end their season in style.

The Premier League champions fell behind after just three minutes as Javier Manquillo opened the scoring, but Conte’s men were level by the break following Willian’s equaliser.

The game also marked John Terry’s farewell at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea captain was substituted in the 28th minute and was given a guard of honour by his team-mates as he left the pitch and handed the armband to Gary Cahill.
