Monaco's Kylian Mbappe is set for a summer of speculation and transfer talk after a standout season in France.

The 18-year-old has been tipped to cost as much as £113.5million with Real Madrid and Manchester City among those who could afford that fantastical fee.

Here, Sportsmail takes a look at the contenders and what will happen to Mbappe in the coming months, from leaving for Madrid to staying in Monaco.

REAL MADRID

Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid are preparing for their Champions League final in Cardiff on the pitch but, behind the scenes, they will be working on how to get those Galacticos.

Raphael Varane, the Spanish club's centre back, previously hinted he would try to convince his fellow countryman to come to Madrid.

'It would be a pleasure to see him here,' Varane said on Mbappe. 'In addition to that he is French, so he would be welcome. We will surely get the chance to discuss this.'

They are known to have monitored Mbappe and the kid himself has been revealed to be a Real Madrid fan. All this makes Madrid president Florentino Perez's side the frontrunners if Mbappe leaves.

BARCELONA

Monaco chairman Dmitry Rybolovlev recently told French publication L'Equipe: 'You can't keep a player against his will. We'll monitor the situation.'

Like Madrid, Barcelona have also looked at Mbappe but they are judged to be outsiders.

With their formidable forward line – Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar – Barcelona will not lose sleep. At 18, though, Mbappe could be a superstar of the future.

He helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 title this season and is on Barcelona's radar, but not a top target. Given Mbappe's Madrid preference too, this move is unlikely.

BOOKMAKERS' ODDS: 20/1

Barcelona are outsiders, but Mbappe could be a long-term Lionel Messi replacement

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN

When a star player is up for grabs, Paris Saint-Germain tend to be in the mix.

The French club missed out on the Ligue 1 title to Monaco and this would be a way to hurt their opponents while also benefiting themselves.

PSG want a marquee signing to improve morale, having not managed to truly replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic since losing him on a free to Manchester United.

Would Monaco sell to PSG? It would mean Mbappe doesn't have to leave his homeland but this one is unlikely.

It would be a shock if Mbappe joined rivals PSG, but one that would allow him to stay in France

MANCHESTER CITY

Ever since Mbappe became the subject of speculation, Manchester City have been involved.

The teenager scored 24 goals in all competitions last season and Pep Guardiola is known to like starlets packed with potential, such as Gabriel Jesus.

Mbappe would become Guardiola's second Monaco signing this summer. City have completed a £43m move for Portugal attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva, 22.

Monaco's Benjamin Mendy, also 22 and a Frenchman, is likewise being heavily linked with City.

If Guardiola pulls off a hat-trick by also getting Mbappe, this window would go down as the summer that the Manchester club raided Monaco.

MANCHESTER UNITED

They've already broken the world transfer record once, having signed Paul Pogba for £89m last summer, so would they do it again?

Jose Mourinho tends to get what Jose Mourinho wants. It remains to be seen whether what he wants is an 18-year-old striker like Mbappe, however.

It was reported at the beginning of this month that Manchester United had tabled a £72m bid which was turned down because Monaco want north of £100m.

United are also in for Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann so it's unlikely that Mbappe will top their list of targets. They're outsiders.

BAYERN MUNICH

Barely anything has been mentioned of Bayern Munich, with the German giants not believed to be in the running.

Yet their signing of Renato Sanches last summer from Benfica likewise flew under the radar as they beat Manchester United to the Portugal teenager.

Bayern could afford him but appear to be content with not competing for Mbappe.

Bayern Munich have flown under the radar, but they could certainly afford Mbappe

THE PREMIER LEAGUE'S OTHERS

Liverpool have also been linked but the money seems too much for them. Would Jurgen Klopp really be allowed to break the world transfer record for an 18-year-old kid?

It's highly unlikely, but the bookmakers have them at surprisingly low odds of 8/1.

Chelsea are one of the Premier League's big spenders but they have not shown any interest in Mbappe so far. They are therefore 16/1.

Arsenal likewise are outsiders at 14/1, while Tottenham are 40/1.

TO STAY AT MONACO

This is the likeliest option as it stands, unless Real Madrid and Co cough up the cash.

While Monaco may be struggling to convince a club to pay them more than £100m for a teenager, one more season may do the trick.

It is probable that Mbappe will get another season under his belt in Ligue 1 to help Monaco defend their title.

Should he continue to impress in France and on the European stage, then Monaco will not struggle to get what they want next summer.

BOOKMAKERS' ODDS: EVENS

The most likely scenario is that Mbappe stays at Monaco for another season
