Manchester United are reportedly set for transfer talks over Torino striker Andrea Belotti after AC Milan saw a bid rejected for the player yesterday.

The Italy international has enjoyed a superb season in Serie A and is now being linked with a host of top clubs all over Europe, including a number from the Premier League.

Belotti scored 28 goals and contributed seven assists in all competitions for Torino, leading to Milan to meet with the club yesterday to make them an offer.

However, Calciomercato claim that first bid was rejected as it did not meet the 23-year-old’s £86million release clause.

United are now apparently set to enlist the help of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents Jose Mourinho, to act as an intermediary in the deal as they line up a meeting with Torino themselves.

Having failed to land the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Romelu Lukaku so far this summer, United are now looking at Belotti as another option as well as Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, who has also been linked with Milan.

Torino’s desire not to see their star player leave for a Serie A rival could benefit United, though the Red Devils could yet face competition from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.
