Alvaro Morata agent hints Manchester United deal is close and says Real Madrid striker will not spend another season on bench
Jose Mourinho turned his attention to the Los Blancos hitman after Romelu Lukaku set his sights on Chelsea move
ALVARO MORATA'S agent has hinted that a move to Manchester United is close.
Jose Mourinho turned his attention to the Real Madrid hitman after Romelu Lukaku set his sights on a move to Chelsea.
United are yet to lodge a bid but want Morata to fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Morata's representative says that he has not met with Real officials - but Morata's future will become clear in the coming days.
Juanma Lopez said: "He does not want a season like this again. It was a great season, but he wants to play more.
"The player will take a clear and definitive decision in the coming days. I have not yet met with the representatives from Real Madrid.
"Alvaro is a player who wants to play a more important role. He wants to play more. Which is normal for an attacker who has scored 19 goals. It is too little."
Lopez's comments give United hope after Morata had said he would be "crazy" to leave Los Blancos following their Champions League triumph in Cardiff.
Morata said: "'I want to be playing and to be important to the squad, particularly next year when there is the World Cup.
"But I want to fight for my place here, I would be crazy to leave Real Madrid. I would like to stay."
United made bagging a No9 a priority after ending their bid to sign Antoine Griezmann.
Real are likely to drive a hard bargain for Morata after being told that they had no chance of signing David de Gea.
