Manchester United’s hope of landing Ivan Perisic have taken a knock after Paris Saint-Germain joined the race to sign the Croatian winger, according to reports.

PSG are preparing to lose both former United flop Angel Di Maria, who is a reported target for Barcelona and Juventus, and Lucas Moura, who is wanted as a replacement for Perisic by Inter.

And according to the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, that has led PSG to begin drawing up a shortlist of potential wingers who could replace the pair this summer.

Somewhat ironically, they have landed on Perisic as their preferred option, despite being fully aware of United’s ongoing negotiations with Inter over the 28-year-old.

PSG have every bit as much financial power as United, which could be boosted even further should Di Maria be sold for a big transfer fee this summer.

The Argentine had a somewhat underwhelming season by his usual standards, having starred alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the previous campaign.

But he has nevertheless garnered attention from Barca and Juve, with Ernesto Valverde reportedly keen to partner the former Real Madrid man with his Argentine team-mate Lionel Messi.

United, meanwhile, are still looking to find a breakthrough in negotiations with Inter over Perisic, and have instead put most of their attention on securing other targets.

A deal is waiting to be confirmed for centre-back Victor Lindelof, from Benfica, while Alvaro Morata could complete a move from Real Madrid as early as this week.
