Antoine Griezmann is set to end all speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United by agreeing a new contract with Atletico Madrid.

Various Spanish outlets, including AS and Marca, claim that France international has agreed to a one-year extension on his current deal.

The fresh deal, which will tie him to the club until 2022, will see his wages significantly improve.

It comes after Griezmann made a U-turn on his desire to leave the club.

Following the conclusion of the season the 25-year-old offered clear indications he saw his future elsewhere.

‘I’m ready to go,’ he said. ‘Winning titles, that’s what I’m going to look for this summer when deciding my future.’

When asked about Manchester United at one stage he said there was a six out of 10 chance he would move to Old Trafford.

But then Atletico failed to overturn a transfer ban which means they are unable to sign any new players this summer.

Out of loyalty Griezmann felt he must remain, explaining: ‘It would be a bad move to go now.’

Just yesterday an Instagram post from the attacker reaffirmed that stance.

It’s unclear if the new deal means there is any change to his release clause, which had been at £86million.
