Manchester United are reportedly £15million off meeting Inter Milan’s asking price for top transfer target Ivan Perisic as they struggle to get a deal over the line.

The Croatia international has been one of Jose Mourinho’s priorities in the transfer market in recent weeks, with various reports suggesting a move could be close to completion.

However, Inter are said to be holding out for £48million for their star player, with United only willing to go as high as £35million for him, according to ESPN.

Inter could be under pressure to sell players this summer as they look to meet Uefa Financial Fair Play regulations, but they seem determined not to let such a valuable asset leave on the cheap.

Perisic, 28, contributed 11 goals and eight assists to the Serie A giants’ cause last season, and looks the ideal pacey and creative wide-man needed to add some spark to Mourinho’s attack.

United struggled to break down sides as they drew 15 league matches in 2016/17, but it seems they’re not willing to go any higher than £35million for Perisic.

It has been a frustrating summer for the Red Devils, who have also missed out on the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Romelu Lukaku, though they still remain hopeful of securing the signing of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
