Former Real Madrid assistant manager Aitor Karanka has hailed Manchester United transfer target Alvaro Morata as a ‘spectacular’ player who can be a success anywhere.

The 24-year-old striker is being strongly linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford this summer to link up again with his old manager Jose Mourinho.

Karanka, who was Mourinho’s assistant at Real Madrid, knows Morata well from his days as an academy player at the Bernabeu, and believes he’d be a great signing for the Red Devils.

‘Alvaro fits anywhere,’ the former Middlesbrough manager told Cadena Ser.

‘We knew since he was with us at the age of 19 (his talent) and I know him since he was 17 because he came to the Under 17 World Cup in Nigeria.

‘Alvaro is the classic player that can fit anywhere. He has everything.

‘The year he spent at Juventus was good for him to mature. For this (Premier League) football he is a spectacular player.’

Morata is looking to leave Real Madrid due to not being a regular for Zinedine Zidane’s side last season, though he still impressed from the bench with 20 goals in all competitions.
