Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Julian Brandt has agreed to join Bayern Munich next year, according to reports in Germany.

The 21-year-old has been targeted by Jurgen Klopp for several months and reports claimed that Liverpool were ready to make their move this summer.

But TZ now claim that Brandt has rejected Klopp’s advances and will join the German champions in the summer of 2018.

The midfielder’s current contract with Leverkusen expires in 2019 but Bild reported in April that he would be available next summer for €12.5 million (£11m) due to a release clause.

TZ’s report comes after Liverpool had agreed a £39m deal with Roma for Mohamed Salah.

The Egypt international, who will become Liverpool’s club-record signing, has agreed a £90,000-a-week contract.

Salah is due to undergo his medical and Thursday and Liverpool are hoping to announce the transfer shortly after.
