Jurgen Klopp wants to break Liverpool’s transfer record with two more signings after completing a deal for Mohamed Salah, according to reports.

Liverpool are about to set a new club record by spending £39 million on the Roma winger, who is expected to finalise his move to Anfield on Thursday.

But the Daily Mirror reports that Klopp has made the signings of a new holding midfielder and a new central defender a priority – and deals for both players are expected to surpass the £39m spent on Salah.

The Liverpool boss is intent on signing Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer.

But a deal for the 22-year-old midfielder is expected to go above £50m.

Klopp is also keen on Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka but the  22-year-old has attracted strong interest from Bayern Munich.

Having failed in their pursuit of Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool are exploring alternative options for a new central defender.

Kalidou Koulibaly is among the players targeted but the Napoli centre-back will command a similar £50m-plus fee to Van Dijk.
