Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly opened talks over a £52million deal to seal the transfer of Real Madrid playmaker and Manchester United target James Rodriguez.

The big-spending Ligue 1 giants have drawn up a list of ambitious targets for this summer, having been recently linked with big names such as Sergio Aguero and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well.

But now Rodriguez seems to be among the club’s priorities, with the Colombia international widely expected to leave the Bernabeu after a frustrating season under Zinedine Zidane.

The former Monaco man struggled for playing time and made no secret of his distaste of the manager’s decisions with a number of high-profile stroppy reactions when being subbed off in games.

United were recently linked with a bid of as much as £70m for Rodriguez, but Goal now claim PSG are ahead of the Red Devils in the race for his signature.

Jose Mourinho’s side seem to have cooled their interest in the 25-year-old, with the likes of Alvaro Morata and Ivan Perisic seemingly higher priorities in attack.

Rodriguez has largely flopped during his three years in Spain, perhaps prompting United to look at other options instead of risking a considerable sum of money on a player yet to perform consistently outside of the French and Portuguese leagues.
