Chelsea have been forced to assess their options as they look set to miss out on Romelu Lukaku and the Premier League champions have stepped up their interest in Alvaro Morata once again.

It’s understood Manchester United have agreed a fee of around £75million for Lukaku but the Blues are not yet resigned to losing out in the race – and have matched their rivals’ bid for the Everton striker.

However, with United in pole position for the Belgian’s signature, Chelsea are eyeing Torino attacker Andrea Belotti and Real Madrid’s Morata ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Gianluca Di Marzio claim Antonio Conte’s side have made contact ‘in the last few hours’ over a sensational move for Spain international Morata.

The 24-year-old appeared on the cusp of an Old Trafford switch last week before the Red Devils turned their attention to Lukaku.

Madrid are demanding a fee of around £80m for Morata so Chelsea will have to splash the cash to land the former Juventus man.

Morata scored 20 goals in all competitions for Madrid last term but is seeking a move away from the Bernabeu in search of more regular game-time.
