Manchester United will tell Real Madrid that they want Toni Kroos in any deal for David De Gea, according to reports.

It’s understood the La Liga giants have infuriated United by stepping up their interest in De Gea once again after missing out on the 26-year-old goalkeeper in the final hours of the transfer window last summer.

The Daily Mirror suggest that Jose Mourinho has identified Kroos as a target if Madrid do attempt to force a move for De Gea ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Mourinho has long been an admirer of the Germany World Cup winner and sees him as the perfect partner for Paul Pogba in his midfield at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are demanding a fee of around £60million for De Gea but the inclusion of Kroos in a deal could lower their asking price.

Madrid, however, are keen to hang on to Kroos so may have to accept United’s £60m price tag for the Spain shot-stopper.

Kroos’ team-mate at the Bernabeu, Alvaro Morata, was also on United’s radar but the Premier League giants opted to sign Romelu Lukaku in a £75m deal instead.
