Chelsea made an enquiry to Grzegorz Krychowiak’s entourage over a possible move for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder this summer, according to reports in France.

Krychowiak, 27, joined PSG from Sevilla on a five-year deal last summer but had a frustrating debut campaign in France, making only 11 appearances under Unai Emery in Ligue 1.

However, L’Equipe claim Chelsea have been monitoring the Pole’s situation at the Parc des Princes and made contact with his representatives two weeks ago.

It’s understood the Premier League champions were checking on Krychowiak’s potential availability before they landed Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.

Antonio Conte has been scouring the market for midfield reinforcements ahead of the 2017/18 campaign and Krychowiak, among others, has been on the Italian’s radar.

France powerhouse Bakayoko eventually signed on the dotted line at Stamford Bridge for a fee of around £40million following weeks of speculation.

The Blues have made no further contact over a move for Krychowiak.
