Paul Pogba has claimed he used his alter ego ‘Agent P’ to convince Zlatan Ibrahimovic to re-sign with Manchester United amid reports the Swede has taken an enormous pay cut.

Ibrahimovic’s return to United was confirmed on Thursday, with the striker signing a one-year deal after overcoming a serious ACL knee injury far quicker than expected.

The forward, who scored 28 goals in all competitions last season, is expected to play backup to £75m man Romelu Lukaku and will wear the No.10 shirt.

And Pogba took to Instagram to share his delight at the news, once again hinting that ‘Agent P’ had helped seal the deal and getting fans excited about their potential partnership next season.

Pogba, who suggested that himself and Ibrahimovic (the lion) will create fireworks next season, previously persuaded Lukaku to join United, though he had a different task with Zlatan.

Incredibly, according to The Sun, Ibrahimovic will only earn around half of the £367,000-a-week he was taking home during his first season at Old Trafford.

His latest deal is worth a relatively modest £180,000-a-week, half what he was earning before, while some outlets are even claiming that his pay cut is £200k-a-week less than previous.

Ibrahimovic’s desire to remain at United was motivated by ‘unfinished business’, and he has sacrificed his status as the club’s highest earner in order to remain a Red Devil.

Ibrahimovic will wear Wayne Rooney’s old No.10 shirt next season and will be looking to help fire United to domestic and European glory in the Premier League and Champions League.

He has spent the past few days hanging out with Pogba to promote a new campaign from UEFA, and he is not expected to return to action until the very end of October at the absolute earliest.
