Harry Potter Stars Say They’d Be Up To Return For A Reboot

Harry Potter stars Rupert Grint and Tom Felton told EW they'd be interested in returning to the wizarding world if a reboot were to happen.

Is it possible that we’ll see more Harry Potter movies? While nothing’s popped out of a hat in terms of official reports or even rumors, two stars of the classic fantasy franchise seem up to the idea.

Earlier this week, Universal Studios Orlando unveiled Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, a brand-new addition to its Potter theme parks. In celebration, several cast members reunited to help launch the ride.

Among them were Rupert Grint and Tom Felton, who played the lovable red-head Ron Weasley and the more villainous member of Slytherin, Draco Malfoy, respectively. And speaking to EW at the event, both touched on the impact the series made on them, as well as the possibility of coming back, not as their characters, but as their characters’ fathers.

“Absolutely,” says Felton, immediately. “I say I’ll do it for free but [laughs]…yeah, I’d love to.”

Grint smiles in agreement: “I’d be up for that…it’d be a nice kind of bit of closure.”

Because the deal would probably work out better for Felton, it’s good that he’s the more energetic of the two about the idea. In the series, Lucius Malfoy, originally portrayed by the icy Jason Isaacs, is an active Death Eater who actually launched a good chunk of the plotline in 2002’s The Chamber of Secrets. Once he sneaked Tom Riddle’s diary into Ginny Weasley’s possession, the doors opened up to a whole – and I mean a whole – lot more.

But to reiterate, nothing’s been at all confirmed about the future of Harry Potter. Well, that is, the movie franchise. J.K. Rowling recently announced that she’s got four brand new books in the works. However, given the informational guide approach they seem to be taking, it isn’t looking like we’ll see Felton and Grint in a new adventure anytime soon.
