Bond 25 Will Reportedly Introduce A Female 007

The upcoming Bond 25 will reportedly introduce audiences to a female 007 when it hits theaters next year, and she'll be played by Lashana Lynch.

The 25th James Bond movie, which is currently undergoing what’s said to be a very chaotic production, will be Daniel Craig’s last outing as the iconic super spy. With the actor’s retirement looming, theories are running rampant on who might pick up the license to kill next, with names like Henry Cavill, Charlize Theron and, of course, Idris Elba popping up as potential replacements.

And while it’ll probably be a while before we know for sure who’ll be our next 007, a new rumor says that it might just be Bond 25 star Lashana Lynch, who you’re likely familiar with from her role as Maria Rambeau in this year’s Captain Marvel.

In the upcoming action flick, she’ll be taking on the role of someone named Nomi, though we’ve been told next to nothing about the character just yet, leading to all sorts of speculation. If this new report from Express has it right, though, then she may in fact be our next 007.

According to the outlet, there’s a scene in Bond 25 where we see M (Ralph Fiennes) summoning the spy, saying “come in 007.” At that moment, in will walk Lynch’s Nomi.

“There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, ‘Come in 007,’ and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman,” the insider said, adding: “It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.”

“Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning.”

Of course, it’s worth taking this with a grain of salt for now, but we should mention that this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a possible female 007 being introduced and while it’s unclear if she’ll continue to take on the mantle for future films or just appear in Bond 25, it’d certainly be an interesting direction for the franchise to head in.

That being said, if Lashana Lynch really is the next 007, you can be sure that there’ll be a sizeable uproar from the more unsavory corners of the internet and it’ll be fascinating to watch how the movie goes down as a whole when it finally shoots its way into theaters on April 8th, 2020.
