Arsenal Transfer Prospects: Should Carlos Vela Be Sent Out on Loan in January?

After scoring Arsenal's fourth goal, one of the most memorable Arsenal goals in a while, in emphatic style, Carlos Vela has re-emerged into Arsenal fans' mindsets. After a forgettable 2009/2010 where the Mexican received little opportunity despite Arsenal mounting injuries, Vela shows promising signs as well as added maturity.

The 21-year-old is an electrifying striker blessed with terrific pace and a fierce shot. He's capable of playing anywhere along the front line, enabling the Mexican international to be a real handful for defenders. With Arsenal's forward pack currently low on numbers due to ongoing injury problems to talismanic strikers Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner, Vela has a real opportunity to stamp his worth onto the Arsenal XI.

During the emphatic 4-1 win over Bolton, Vela showed he is a strong finisher, unlike his team-mate Andrei Arshavin. The Russian magician squandered a number of clear-cut opportunities that potentially could of come back to haunt the Gunners.

It is evident Arshavin is struggling with confidence and form and should the Russian captain's slip-ups continue, there is a strong chance for Carlos Vela to be given a premier opportunity. But van Persie and Bendtner are expected to return in the coming months, which will ensure Arsenal forward line is back to full strength. Furthermore, in-form winger Theo Walcott is also set to return in October.

With a full-strength forward line it is hard to picture the former Guadalajara sharpshooter receiving flowing game time. This raises the question, should Carlos Vela be sent on loan come January?

The former Osasuna loanee would thrive upon receiving week-in, week-out game time, especially in the Premier League. A short stint at a Premier League outfit would enable Vela to come to terms with the physicality of the English game, as well as honing in on faltering aspects of his game.

There is no denying the Mexican magician is capable of becoming a world class player and if a short loan spells helps further his growth than Wenger should be all for it.
