Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Eto’o or Raul: The Week’s Best Forward?

0 of 4

Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Inter Milan’s Samuel Eto’o and Schalke's Raúl González all scored in the Champions League this week for their sides.

Cristiano Ronaldo showed he was truly back at his best by scoring a low free-kick against AC Milan on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu, as Real Madrid defeated the Italians 2-0. Yet it was Wednesday who had more of the Champions League fire.

Between Italy’s Inter Milan and England’s Tottenham, it certainly looked like the Nerazzurri were the favorites, and somehow, they emerged conquerors. Samuel Eto’o scored twice, including a goal from the penalty spot, and his contribution was just enough to help Inter defeat Spurs 4-3 at the San Siro.

On the same night, Real Madrid’s former skipper Raul also impressed against Hapoel-Tel-Aviv. He scored twice for Schalke with each of his goals coming in each half, while his German team secured a 3-1 win at the Veltins-Arena.

After coming back from a huge injury, Messi proved he was as sharp as ever with a brace against Copenhagen. The first one proved to be of extreme quality, probably appearing as the goal of the Champions League’s Day 3. Watch the video highlights of the best forwards’ goals from Tuesday and Wednesday, and select your best player of the week.

When it comes to free-kicks, Ronaldo is the real expert. No chance there for the keeper, the goal was simply too clever for the wall. This goal is an absolute stunner...

Surely, this is the Samuel Eto'o that everybody likes to see: The exact combination of accuracy and mental power.

In fact, containing such a great striker is never an easy thing for any side. Especially not for a team which has been reduced to 10 men.

Raul's Two Goals Vs. Hapoel-Tel-Aviv

Yes, this is the perfect reminder of the Raul who used to power Real Madrid in an unique manner seasons ago.

His low shots seemed to be a real danger for the Hapoel-Tel-Aviv goalie, but perhaps all we can tell the away side is "better luck next time!"

Lionel Messi's Two Goals Vs. Copenhagen

Was there any better screamer than Lionel Messi's opener against Copenhagen on Day 3 in the Champions League? No must be the answer...

Well, not much needs to be said. This simply explains why he currently holds the FIFA World Player of the Year title.
